Taming the Beast – Time For a World Led by Women ?

Looking objectively lets face the truth – men have ruled our world throughout the past 5,000 years of western history and we are in a grand mess because of it. It has been a history of warfare, oppression, genocide, poverty and mistreatment of women and children. Based on research by Riane Eisler for her powerful book The Chalice and the Blade we know that since late neolithic times patriarchal rule has worsened, not bettered our lives..

Fortunately thinking in recent years is shifting. A new more balanced and higher consciousness is growing. A perception that women should be ruling our world is coming from not only women but many confident and enlightened men as well. I had an amazing awakening shift in consciousness when I went through a life altering death experience 7 years ago. I wrote my latest book “Awakening the Mysterious Feminine” as a result of that change in perception. I now believe that societies only chance of survival is women stepping into major leadership roles in our corporations, governments and religions.

Like me an increasingly number of men intelligent leaders like Dalai Lama, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Billionaire Ted Turner, Author Martin Amis, and film director Michael Winner today are realising that male rule has created the mess we are in – and that men’s take it or leave it dominant thinking is incapable of solving the problems they created.

Desmond Tutu – By nature women are more inclined towards compassion, whereas men tend to feel they have to be “macho”. Women are basically life-giving, life-affirming. Women can actually make society civil.”

Dalai Lama – “Western women can come to the rescue of the world” . Some people may call me a feminist….But we need more effort to promote basic human values — human compassion, human affection. And in that respect, females have more sensitivity for others’ pain and suffering. The world would be a peaceful place if it were ruled by women”

Billionaire Ted Turner- “I’ve said for years and I’m really serious about it, I think men should be barred from holding public office for a hundred years. They have been running the world for the last thousands of years and they’ve mucked it up something awful.’ I built my business surrounding myself with women. I find women more superior to men in business”

Author Martin Amis – “World ruled by women would be a better place,- I have a dream. I see a day when politics is feminised, where female values move into the public sphere in a way they haven’t quite done yet,”

Film director Michael Winner – “Men are ridiculous. Women are far better people. Much wiser (not difficult) and with a temperament to deal with life’s complexities and men’s amativeness… So I think it’s about time women took over. What they have to put up with is beyond belief. Pathetic, bullying men who throw their weight about (and there’s usually a lot of it) in a vain attempt to prove they’re superior when, in truth, they know they’re not.”

One of the most eloquent voices for feminine leadership is Author Riane Eisler. Here are some of her quotes on this subject.

“We all need to understand that personal transformation and cultural — economic and political — transformation are interconnected. For example, gender relationships, which are tough for people to deal with, are key to whether a society orients to domination or partnership in all its relations.”

“Underneath all the complex and seemingly random currents and cross currents, is the struggle between two very different ways of relating, of viewing our world and living in it. It is the struggle between two underlying possibilities for relations: the partnership model and the domination model.”

“Part of our higher destiny is to put love into action by challenging unjust authority, by truly caring for ourselves, for one another, and our Mother Earth”.

“We can’t do it by ourselves, but if enough of us do it, we change the cultural climate, and then the leaders follow.”

“For most of recorded history, parental violence against children and men’s violence against wives was explicitly or implicitly condoned. Those who had the power to prevent and/or punish this violence through religion, law, or custom, openly or tacitly approved it. …..The reason violence against women and children is finally out in the open is that activists have brought it to global attention.”

  1. Hi Steve:
I admire your enthusiasm and sentiment, and respect the amount of research and personal growth you have accomplished.

You know that at core I am and am proud to be a feminist. However, swinging from one end to the other on the pendulum from patriarchy to matriarchy is not the answer to all our problems. Yes, men have been responsible for a great deal of the unbalance we currently are experiencing, and yes, women must aspire to leadership positions at a greater rate. But continued unbalance in a different direction is not the answer. ALL of us have free will and choices to make. It is time for us ALL to take responsibility for our thoughts, our choices, and our actions. Do not simply place the burden for change on the women of the world by saying all it will take is for us to step up. Not all women are naturally more compassionate and caring than men, nor are they “by nature” more sensitive to pain and suffering–just as not all men are domineering, “take it or leave it” male macho chauvinists. No matter why or how we arrived at the mess the world is in now, ALL of us bear the responsibility of stewardship for every living and non-living entity on our Earth, and it will take ALL of us to repair the damage we have done to it and each other. Promoting the advancement of women is a major part of the process, I agree, but taken to an extreme it will only further the divisiveness we see all around us now. Pay attention to what Ms. Eisler is telling us: “We all need to understand that personal transformation and cultural — economic and political — transformation are interconnected. . . . Part of our higher destiny is to put love into action by challenging unjust authority, by truly caring for ourselves, for one another, and our Mother Earth.” I do not see men as Beasts. I see them as partners in the loving, transformational destiny Eisler is talking about.

    1. Hi Chris,
I am pleased you are following my written expressions. I admire all that you do to make this a more loving world.
Meeting you was an important part of my journey to understanding.

I agree that we cannot switch one unbalanced thought system for another. While I must admit that I think the female brain of cooperation and valuing all opinions as opposed to the male brain of control and dominance is more suited for the next Age of humankind, I agree with you that we must have both working together, not against each other.

Wish I could come back in 200 years to see how it works our 🙂 Steve
